I met Gladys on my first day of anesthesia training in October of 1965. She immediately introduced herself and took me for a tour of Norfolk in her new Volkswagen. While in training we all loved her and her instructors called her “Rosebud”! We became fast friends and after graduation we kept in touch and worked together for over 25 years. The world was a better place because of her. She was a devoted mother and her focus was always on Phillip and his welfare. She was the sister I never had and she will always be in my heart.

Philip, Your mother was a very beautiful person. She was extremely kind, thoughtful and generous to all. She attended all of the Colonial Williamsburg Employees Craft Shows. One time, when my husband John and I did not participate in the show, she inquired and found out that John was in the hospital. While the craft show was going on, she took the time to visit john in the hospital. He was so surprised and appreciative that your mother was so thoughtful to take the time to visit him. It was an act of kindness that we will never forget. Your mother was certainly a role model and inspiration to all!

Philip, your Mom and I go back a long way. As you know, I was blessed to grow up with her as children. She was always a kind, caring person that thought more of others than herself. She had a gift of being a caregiver. She loved you so much and was very proud of you. I definitely miss her. Am fortunate to have many wonderful memories. There is now another angel in heaven named Gladys. You know I am here for YOU. Love, Elsie

I will surely miss Gladys. We were Bible Study friends for 13 years now. I will miss her quick personality and knowledge of life. I will totally miss her but I know she is with our Lord and Savior and we will unite one day in heaven! Please accept my condolence.

Phillip, I was so shocked and sad to read about your Mother passing. She was always so delightful to talk with her when she came into the City of Williamsburg Finance Department. Her adventures, especially to Cabo, were especially entertaining! I retired the end of February and missed being able to see her there. I was hoping our paths would cross around town, but that never happened since I left the City offices. You had a wonderful Mother! My thoughts and prayers our with you.

Phillip, Your mother was truly one of the special people! I knew her at Williamsburg Methodist and through Outreach committees. Her volunteering on a medical mission team to Honduras gave me an opportunity to work directly with her. And appreciate her even more. She will be missed. My condolences to you and the family.

Phillip, I counted Gladys as one of my dearest friends. Though we have only known each other for about two years, she was a strong presence in my life. She often would simply show up at my Sales and Auctions and just start helping in any way she could. She and I talked or texted or emailed usually daily and sometimes multiple times. Your mother was such a strong and proud woman with the kindest heart. I would collect cigar boxes for her so she could give them to the children with a dollar bill or a small trinket in it so they could collect their goodies. My 12 year old nephew has his that she gave him. I am so grateful that I got to see her recently and to tell her how much I loved her. You are in my thoughts and prayers, Lisa

Ms. Victor always had a warm and kind spirit. She possessed an infectious smile that left me at ease and always made me feel welcomed in her presence and in her home. I will always remember her as a proud and hard-working mom who went above and beyond to care and provide for her son. Phil, I'm very sorry for your loss. Please know that I always enjoyed your mom's company and have only the fondest memories of her.
