Hey - I know that you don't know me, but I got to know Stephen at UMW. We were in German class together, and we were both prius pals. From what I knew of him, he was such a kind person with a wonderful sense of humor who loved to make others happy. He always encouraged me to do well in class and also helped me a lot. I'm beyond sad to see him have to go, but I just want you to know that he had a big impact on my life even if we didn't know each other for a long time. Because of that, I will always carry his legacy with me.

After singing together in middle school choir and join high school events he lit up the room in a way others just didn’t. We had a small choir class in middle school of about 7 or 8 of us and always looked out for him when I could if he needed anything. Stephen was a light in the life of many but especially to a close friend and coworker of mine, it was so sweet to see them so happy and close. Will be missed so much

Dear Fitton Family, I was a classmate and friend of Stephen’s at JHS. Of course there were those closer to him than me, but he was one of the few people who always extended kindness to me, to which I was and will be always be grateful for that. I sang alongside him in choir, and had the privilege of engaging in fun and genuine conversation with him when I would see him. I have fond memories of the choir trips running around Universal Studios, and walking late nights in New York. It pains me to know that Stephen is no longer with us and that the world is robbed of his presence. I found out today right as I happened to be getting ready to lead a group at church in the hymn ‘Abide With Me.’ The words of this hymn felt right for this moment and I thought of Stephen as I sang them: “ Abide with me, fast falls the eventide. The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide. When other helpers fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, O abide with me. I fear no foe with Thee at hand to bless; Ills have no weight and tears no bitterness. Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory? I triumph still if Thou abide with me. Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes; Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies. Heav'n's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee; In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.“ I can’t even imagine what you as a family must be feeling at this moment and I want to leave my condolences and prayers with you all during this time. I know Jesus has met Stephen with open arms to welcome him home, and that he is abiding in the arms of his Heavenly Father. I pray that the wounds of absence heal and I pray for peace and comfort in the this time of trouble. My heart weighs heavy today...

Dr. Roberts and family, I read today with deep sympathy the obituary for your son Stephen. I only "knew" him from his picture on your office desk, which you embellished with brief brags slipped into my medical consultations with you over the past several years. I can imagine few more painful tragedies for mature adults than to have one of our children pre-decease us. Stephan was at the threshold of his coming of age debut! I am so sorry for this loss to yourself and all his loved ones.

His star will shine bright up above & be forever watching over us. Lots of love Nanny Fi x

Dear Fitton family, I was a friend of your sons. Not a best friend or super duper close but a friend. I was lucky enough to share classes, choir, and other activities with him. He was always super bright and funny and welcoming. He had a talent for music and poetry as well as math and that’s from the amount that I knew him from. It’s been really hard for me to imagine/understand that he’s gone. I can’t even imagine how it is for you all, and I am so sorry for your loss. All in all, I know he was dearly loved and is dearly missed. Sending you comfort in prayers

I knew Stephen in high school. Stephen was such an impressive person. He showed me his writing, and I genuinely believed he had a natural talent. I was always moved by his works. His singing was a joy to listen to. We sometimes would sing or harmonize together. He was also such a kind person. His loving memory will be held fondly in my heart. My condolences for such a great loss.
