I’m sorry for your loss. I have good memories of Gene and all of us playing ball in the field behind Raymond and Ronnie’s house.

The area where we all grew up ( Huger Drive) had so many kids and so many great memories. Gene was always a nice guy! My thoughts are with his family and I’m sorry for your loss.

Gene was so funny, had a huge heart, supportive and encouraging to all of his loved ones. From the first time I met Gene through Billy, I could immediately see he was not just a step-father but also an endearing friend and a highly admired father-figure to both Shannon and Billy. Pam loved Gene genuinely and I saw a deep connection and I can imagine she is devastated, beyond lost without the man that made her whole.
I would hear endearing stories occasionally about his children and it was easy to see he was a proud doting father. Gene seems to have touched everyone in his life in a genuine way. He will forever live through our memories.

Melissa and Shawn~my heart breaks for you. I’ll never forget our days together in Powhatan. Gene was always so welcoming and kind. Loved his boyish face and grin. He’d do anything to help someone that needed it. He was a great friend and a super guy. I’m here for you guys if you need anything at all. Love you all

Pam, Melissa, and Shawn,
We were shocked to learn about Gene’s untimely death. I last saw him less than two weeks ago. We chatted in the front yard, just as we have done for 24 years. It is terribly sad to have someone as kind, generous, and neighborly as Gene taken away so suddenly. I will always remember his deep love of animals, both his pets and anything else on four legs. Back when I brewed my own beer, I gave Gene a six-pack. He more than returned the favor by giving me a case of Budweiser. When a batch of my beer went bad, he offered to do an analysis in his lab to identify what went wrong. I’ll miss him.

Pam, Melissa, Shawn and Diane, I am so sorry for your loss.
I'm so glad I was able to reconnect with Gene a few months ago and was able to play golf with him a couple of times.
Shawn, Melissa. your Dad is very proud of you. He couldn't stop talking about you two. Your Dad loved you very much. He seemed to be very happy with his retirement. Gene was a fellow Springer and we played on the Baseball team together. I was telling him his photo with of the State Championship team will always be on display in the trophy case, he just smiled. We loved living across the street from Gene and his family in the 80's before they moved to Williamsburg. A great guy. Great family man. We will miss you guy.

Gene is my daughter’s father-in-law. He was a stellar person, fabulous grandfather and someone you wanted to call friend. We loved him so much and he will be terribly missed. Gene Burnett I hope you know how much I loved you and how much I appreciate your support and love of my daughter Catie. You will ALWAYS be in our hearts. Until we meet again Gene ....

Gene was a great man. I still remember his kindness while we were in between house. He stored some of our things in his garage until our house was being finished. And it was a lot of fun calling Pam and having her meet Gene.
Pam, Melissa, Shawn and Diane, I am so sorry for your loss. Gene was one of a kind.
