Pearry Johnson was born June 2, 1938 in Monroe City, Missouri, to Marvin and Mary Helen Jarman Johnson, and grew up working on the family farm.  As a young man he started his own milk delivery route and served his country in the U. S. Navy Reserves.  He later worked for Melpar Electronics, UPS, and was a tractor trailer driver for McLean Trucking for the remainder of his career.

In 1957, Pearry moved to Washington, D. C. and married the love of his life, Mary Sue Yager.  He leaves his family with fond memories of camping and boating trips, and frequent visits to the pancake house and drive-in movies.

Pearry was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, and a dedicated supporter of the Disabled American Veterans and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans by mailing a check made out to DAV to PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45250.  If you wish to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, you may mail a check made out to them at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Please indicate to either charity that your donation is in memory of Pearry Lee Johnson in the memo section of your check.

    Peggy Todd says:
Pearry Lee was so proud of his family. I loved that he could tell you what was going on with his children, their spouses and his grandchildren. He loved his wife and enjoyed the the friends you guys acquired as you moved from place to place. He had a dry sense of humor. One memory that stands out from long ago is, he couldn't resist teasing me every chance he got with his "Redman" chewing tobacco. Michael and I loved you and will deeply miss you.
