    Stephanie McCully says:
Grandma said to me once, "Why, Stephanie, you are a Peacemaker". Those were the most precious words I ever heard. She is with the ultimate Peacemaker, now, and I will always treasure those words. ". . . Be perfect (like Christ), be of good comfort (encourage one another), be of one mind (don't argue and squabble), live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you." 2 Corinthians 13:11

Raymond D. (Butch) Sutherland, Jr (now Ray) says:
My father was Raymond Sutherland, and Mildred (Mitzi) was my aunt. I remember her so fondly and wish that I had known of her death soon enough that I could have come for her funeral. I knew Uncle Buck (in his US Army uniform) and Chuck (as a child) , but did not know the other family members. My dad spoke fondly of Linda, but I do not recall ever meeting her.. My last recollection of Mitz was in 1954 (or so) when she was buying a new car, and I surprised her with some of the facts about the newest Chevy models. I was 11 or 12. Not sure why I recall that, but I do. Those were the days when Rush / Kate, Gin / Delmar, Martha / Wiorley, and Curtis / Margaret all lived within a few blocks of each other in Wytheville. Long time ago. Many people have come and gone since then. My condolences to the family and friends. Feel free to contact me by the attached email if you wish Ray Sutherland

    Patti Lynn Sutherland Aker says:
Much sympathy and prayers for you from a cousin in Wythe County, VA. This is Patti Lynn Sutherland Aker, a niece of Aunt Mitzi. My father's Fred Sutherland. THis is a great loss for our family. Each of the family members were wonderful people with special talents and loved each other very much. What good cooks they were too. Each one was so dedicated and worked so hard for their families. Use the lessons they taught and showed us by example. Need to let you know that the SUTHERLAND REUNION is scheduled for the first Sunday in August at Mt Pleasant Methodist Church, Wytheville, VA. Granddaddy and Grandmother are buried there with others of the families. We have a pot luck lunch at 1:00. Do plan to come. God Bless.
