John Willard Beckley, Jr of Ann Arbor, Michigan passed away August 25, 2020. He was 75.
Mr. Beckley was born in Stamford Connecticut. He lived in the Yorktown area for 45 years but spent the last five years in Michigan. In Michigan he lived his best life as a University of Michigan sports fan, wildlife watcher, and the world’s greatest Papa.
He served in the United States Navy from October 1965 to August 1969 and was honorably discharged as Cryptological Technician Third Class. He retired from Verizon phone company in 2000 and worked for the government in Fort Eustis until completely retiring in 2009. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Ellen, his son John Beckley III of Yorktown, Va and two daughters Lauralyn Bottom of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Kathleen Mahoney of Arlington, Va. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren. He will be remembered for his huge heart, love of life, and endless adoration of his family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Bucktrout Of Williamsburg Funeral Home On Sunday August 30 at 1:00pm. A private family Interment will follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park.
