Gifts & Memorial Donations

Gwynn Taylor Wiita passed from this life the evening of August 30 at age 81.  Vibrant, witty, and fun, with a wry sense of humor, she was beloved by all who knew her.  She was a devoted and proud military wife and military mother and had just celebrated her 52nd wedding anniversary in June.  She conducted 8 permanent change of station household moves over her husband’s 20 years in the U.S.Navy and also lived overseas (the Netherlands and England) for 6 years.  She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for 28 years, and served as a judge of elections in Surry County for more than 15 years.  Prior to the arrival of children, she ran a successful craft show business.  An avid reader, she was a student of history and the financial markets.  For many years, she enjoyed hosting large family gatherings over the Christmas holidays at her home in Surry which were enjoyed by all.

She was born on July 3, 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland and was preceded in death by her brother Jerry.  She is survived by her husband Marlin, son Stuart, sister Alyce, and grandchildren.  Visitation will be held at Bucktrout Funeral Home in Williamsburg on Saturday Sept 11 between 4-6pm.  Graveside burial services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on a date which is yet to be announced.
