Rose Paparis, 90, of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, July 17, 2015. A native of Greece, Rose immigrated to America in 1952. In 1960, Mr. and Mrs. Paparis bought and ran Williamsburg’s 1st Pancake House, the Ivy House Restaurant (Home of the Astronomical Pancake), until 1969. In 1970 Rose and Tom built the Yorkshire Steak and Seafood Restaurant which is still presently in business. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tom Paparis. Rose is survived by her son, Elias Paparis and wife Elpitha; daughter, Marianthe Palantzas and husband John; granddaughters, Rosa Nacopoulos and husband Paul of Erie, PA, Demetra Emmanouil and husband John of Mechanicsville, VA, Litsa Kotsis and husband Dimitri of Mechanicsville, VA; great grandchildren, Christina, Antoni, Theofanis, Tommy, Nicholas, Angelina; and many other family members and friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 4900 Mooretown Rd. Williamsburg, VA 23185 from 7pm -9pm; where a funeral will be conducted on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please send memorial contributions to Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 60 Traverse Rd. Newport News, VA 23606 or Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.     I enjoyed working for the Paparis family at the Yorkshire Seafood and Steak Restaurant. Mrs. Paparis was very kind, delightful to be around, and took care of everyone as if they were part of her family. She will be missed. My condolences.
